Detectives Nab Suspect Fleeing With Car of Missing Female Driver 677kms Away

Victoria Mumbua Muloki

Police on Sunday evening apprehended a suspect believed to be behind a ring of carjackers who duped and robbed a lady taxi driver, Victoria Mumbua, who has been missing for five days.

According to her colleagues, the lady received a business offer from some people who approached her to take them to Samburu from Diani.

Part of the deal was that upon arrival in Samburu, they would still use her service when returning to Diani as well as use her car while in her company as their driver.

The unpromising journey set off on September 25, 2024, and since then, no one has been able to hear from the lady or trace her whereabouts with suspicion of a scheme that her customers turned into carjackers.

This prompted the family to report the matter at Makupa Police Station in Diani in a bid to locate their kin.

A tracker installed on the vehicle indicated that it was in Kisumu within the search period before going off the radar.

Since then there was neither further communication nor indication on the whereabouts of Mumbua or the vehicle.

After other drivers from Diani raised the issue on social media, police got wind of the situation as well as the general public.

Later on Sunday, the vehicle was spotted in Nakuru because the number plates had not been changed during the daring ordeal.

A male suspect was subsequently apprehended by police and taken in for interrogation as investigations on the matter continued.

During the arrest, the whereabouts of the lady had not been established with authorities noting that she was not in the company of the male suspect at the time of arrest. The search of missing lady is still on.
