Prominent Uasin-Gishu politician and farmer Jackson Kibor is dead.
His daughter Loice Kibor has confirmed that her father who was aged 88 passed away on Wednesday night at St. Lukes’s Hospital in Eldoret after a long illness.
“Yes, we’ve lost him. Our father has been on oxygen since October 2020 after he contracted COVID-19,” Ms Kibor said in a statement.

Mr Kibor apparently had an oxygen cylinder at his home and another inside his vehicle if he had to go out of his palatial home on the outskirts of Eldoret town.
Kibor was known among netizens as the de facto Chairman of the imaginary Men’s Conference where men allegedly go to undisclosed locations during Valentine’s Day, every year.
In 2019, addressed a men-only event in Eldoret where he advised men to be lovely but firm to their wives.
“Men deserve to be happy. Bibi akikusumbua wachana naye. Hata bibilia inasema kuwa kama mkono itakuzuia ku enda mbinguni kata,” he advised men.
He recently got baptised where he said that he has forgiven all those who have wronged him.
“I have seen the light. I’m a free man now. We should prepare ourselves for the next world,” he told this writer in an interview.

Kibor’s last public appearance was during this year’s Valentine’s Day where he hosted a group of men who visited him at his home to wish him a quick recovery.
He was however not new to controversy and has been at loggerheads with his sons; Elkanah Kipleting, Evans Kipkosgei and Erick Kipchumba over his past estate.
In 2016, he moved to court to block the transfer of the parcels of land to his sons in an unresolved family dispute.
He got a reprieve after the Eldoret Lands and Environment court ruled in 2020 in his favour.
The octogenarian was a man of many wives and on several occasions, he hit headlines for divorce cases.
In 2017, a court in Eldoret allowed him to divorce his third wife about a year after divorcing his second wife with whom they had married for over 50 years.
He has left behind over 20 children and many grandchildren.
