Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua says he is offering himself as Raila Odinga’s running mate in the Azimio La Umoja -One Kenya Alliance .

Speaking on Sunday after meeting with Maendeleo Chap Chap Party Governing council, DR Mutua said he has what it takes to deputize the ODM party leader, Raila Odinga .

“With the urging of my party members , I present myself for consideration for the position of deputy president to Jakom Raila Odinga . I have what it takes to deputize him , ” Mutua said.

Mutua added Raila deserved to be the president having worked for it for a long time .

“We have unanimously agreed to support the presidency of Raila Odinga and the Azimio Umbrella . Truth be told , it is his time .Just like it was Nelson Mandela’s time on May 10,1994 , this August 9, 2022 elections is Raila’s time, ” he said.

Mutua’s remarks comes barely weeks after lamenting that his party and others were being sidelined in the alliance in favor of ODM, wiper , and Jubilee.

Speaking a week ago , Mutua claimed that there was lack of trust in the alliance and disrespect for small parties .

” What we want is to be treated with respect because we are doing this for Raila Odinga but we will not agree to be tricked and played and then we end up not being on the ballot…that in a nutshell there’s lack of trust and if just at this time when they need us they are playing us , what will they do to us when we are already inside, ” Mutua said.
