IEBC Set to Announce President-Elect at Bomas

Kenyans are just a heartbeat away from their president-elect following heightened activities by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) at Bomas of Kenya, the National Tallying Centre.

The development comes six days after Kenyans went to the polls on Tuesday, August 9, to elect their set of leaders for the next five years.

1:05pm: Outgoing Murang’a Woman Representative Sabina Chege and her Laikipia counterpart cate Waruguru arrive at Bomas.

12:59 pm: IEBC sends out invitation noting that the official announcement of the President-elect is slated for 3:00pm. Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, Deputy President William Ruto, Roots Party’s George Wajackoyah and Agano Party’s David Mwaura are in the race

12:00pm: Roots Party presidential candidate George Wajackoyah and his Agano party counterpart, David Mwaure, have arrived at the Bomas of Kenya ahead of the announcement by IEBC Chairman Wafula Chebukati’s.

11:30am: Security beefed up at Bomas of Kenya even as the IEBC maintained that all Presidential candidates and their families will be accorded front row seats.
