M5.1 earthquake hits northern Japan’s Hokkaido island

The earthquake’s epicentre was in the south of Hokkaido, east of the city of Tomakomai.

A magnitude-5.1 earthquake struck the island of Hokkaido in northern Japan on Sunday at 08:15 local time at a depth of 60 kilometers, but no tsunami warning has been issued, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
