The official security detail of former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta has reportedly been withdrawn.

As reported by THE STAR An officer aware of the development confirmed to the Star the withdrawal.

“We withdrew the guards from there for some debriefing but they will be back. She is entitled to security,” said one official who asked not to be named.

He did not explain the timing of their move and if it was political.

The officer said the highest authorities were aware of the developments.

The officers were reportedly recalled at 5pm on Tuesday.

They were stationed at the Gatundu (Ichaweri) and Muthaiga homes.

Mama Ngina’s security detail comprised officers from the General Service Unit (GSU) and Administrative Police (AP). 

They were ordered to report to the nearest police station.

Mama Ngina was reportedly not informed of the recalling beforehand.

This comes after reports that the security details of Azimio leaders were also withdrawn.

On Monday, a police source confirmed to the Star that the details of Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua had been recalled.

The source added that over four governors and over 50 Azimio MPs also had their security details withdrawn.
