Newcastle have completed the signing of striker Alexander Isak for a club record fee.The 22-year-old joined St James’ Park for €70m which includes transfers from Real Sociedad from LaLiga.

Isak has signed a six-year contract to become the most expensive player in Magpies history. eclipsing the €44m paid for Joelinton in 2019.Speaking to the club’s official website, Isak said: “I’m delighted it’s here. It was a big, big decision for me, but it’s a decision I’m really happy with.”It’s a great historic club that I think everyone would love to play for, with great fans. “They played a big part in why I came here – and also in the club’s project, which I really believe in.”
The Swedish international moved from Borussia Dortmund to Sociedad in 2019 for €15m and scored 44 goals in 132 appearances for the club.His domestic form has put him in Sweden’s starting XI, with Isak having 37 caps and scoring nine times so far.
It follows Sven Botman, Matt Targett and Nick Pope out the door this summer.
