“Police have since launched investigations with a view to establishing the circumstances surrounding this incident,” the press release read in part.
The NPS spokesman further appealed to Kenyans to be patient and steer clear from speculations on the matter.
He also beseeched Kenyans who could be privy to any information that could lead to the arrest of the abductors to volunteer information regarding the incident to any Police station.
Itumbi’s brother, David Itumbi, had earlier stated that the blogger revealed that he was arrested and tortured by security officers.
“My brother has been badly beaten. We thank God that he is alive. On his own account he was arrested by police and beaten and tortured. This is the state we found him in. (See pictures) Please pray for his recovery. Asanteni for your many prayers and support,” he tweeted.
Politicians allied to DP Ruto, led by senator Murkomen, blamed the police for allegedly abducting and torturing the blogger.
