Mathare Member of Parliament Antony Oluoch was on Thursday, July 20 arrested along Ngong Road by plain-clothed officers at around 8 pm.
In a statement by Azimio la Umoja, the lawmaker was fueling his vehicle when he was approached by a number of plain-clothed officers who took him away to an unknown location.
It was reported that the officers used a vehicle with Tanzanian number plates even as they demanded his immediate release.
“He was near Nakumatt Junction on Ngong Road. Several Subaru cars were spotted around the scene during the arrest” read the statement in part.
Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Director of Communications Philip Etale also confirmed the incident adding that the coalition led by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was still searching for the lawmaker.
He assured Mathare constituents and other Azimio lawmakers that they would be provided with timely updates.
Police were yet to comment on the arrest at the time of publication.
On the other hand, the Milimani High Court is expected to give its ruling on the detention of Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino and Bunge la Wananchi leader Calvin Okoth alias Gaucho later in the day.
The duo alongside other 8 individuals were charged with conspiracy to commit subversive activities.
Milimani Chief Magistrate Lukas Onyina also directed that Owino be taken to hospital for treatment following the request of his lawyers.
“The first accused Owino) will be escorted to the hospital for medical attention. The rest of the accused persons will be remanded at Kileleshwa Police Station until tomorrow,” the magistrate ruled.
Meanwhile, Azimio is set to hold demonstrations within the Central Business District (CBD) from 10 am with Jevanjee Gardens as the convergence point.
