The fee is estimated at £86million for the 22-year-old, who scored 12 goals and provided 10 more assists for the Dutch champions last season.
Erik ten Hag had made the Brazilian a prime target and he will become the second Ajax player to join Old Trafford since Ten Hag’s former side this summer after Lisandro Martinez arrived earlier in the window. Antony signed for Ajax from Sao Paulo in 2020 and has since established himself as one of the most exciting talents in the Eredivisie.
He scored twice in nine caps for Brazil and was part of the team that won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics.The winger’s deal is unlikely to be finalized in time for Antony to play at Leicester on Wednesday, but he could make his debut in this weekend’s clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Antony’s arrival will cost United’s summer spend more than £ 220 million, following previous deals for Martinez, Casemiro and Tyrell Malacia. Christian Eriksen was also released on a free transfer following the expiration of his short-term contract with Brentford.
