Kenyan performing artiste Willy Paul has decried mistreatment at Diamond Platinumz’s Furaha City music festival that took place at the Nairobi Polo Club on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

Taking to his official Instagram account, Willy Paul lamented that he had faced mistreatment at the just concluded event.

According to the ‘Yes I do’ hit maker, Tanzanian artistes were being given a first priority at the event.

“Tanzanian artists being given priority at this event. This is sad. Mbona Wakenya wanadharauliwa mbele ya wabongo?” Willy Paul stated.

He further stated that Tanzanian artistes were being taken to the stage to perform as Kenyans got ignored in a last-minute change of the performing protocol.

“I’m being mistreated at the event. Wanaweka Tanzanians Waperform. Wanachange vitu last minute. Why are Kenyans allowing this?” he added.

A section of those who attended the event argued that Willy Paul had been prevented getting on the stage and Zuchu was invited to perform instead, sparking an outrage.

A disagreement is said to have ensued when Diamond Platnumz’s team refused to let him perform after Willy Paul, but the event’s attendees demanded for the Kenyan act to perform.

Etana decries sabotage

The development comes just hours after Jamaican reggae artiste Etana blamed Diamond Platinumz for the cancelation of her highly anticipated show dubbed Good Vibes Festival which was set for Saturday, December 7, 2024.

She argued that the promoters of the Furaha City music festival came up with the show long after her show had already been promoted, and set up the venue in the same area as hers.

The move, Etana argued, led to the cancellation of her show as authorities argued that the two shows could not happen in the same area due to security reasons.

“My show on dec. 7 was being promoted long before someone popped up with a show with diamond platinums on the same day and in the same area. Then soon after that I heard their show was postponed then yesterday they showed up 50 strong @10/10 citizen tv media house which they must understand – in Jamaica to show up with a lot of people is a common thing so crowd nuh frighten me. Then all of a sudden I am hearing the two shows cannot be held in the SAME AREA from the authorities and my show tonight cannot happen. All this politics and drama for one girl. I wonder who is behind it all. Why you so afraid of one show and one woman?” Etana stated in a post shared via her official X account.

Speaking to K24 TV shortly after the cancellation of her show, an emotional Etana expressed regret and apologised to her fans over the mishap.
