The former director of public prosecutions took over the reins at the intelligence service on June 14, after the end of General Philip Kameru’s tenure.

Haji cornered by Kenya Kwanza MPs In their recent meeting at State House, Nairobi, the Kenya Kwanza leaders alleged Haji is spying for the opposition, adding that he has been striving to broker a truce between the president and Raila Odinga.

Besides Raila, the leaders claim Haji has close ties with the retired president Uhuru Kenyatta. “It should be known that Noordin Haji has been spotted with Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta. He ought to decide whether he is a politician allied to Azimio or he is a public servant,” one of the politicians is quoted by Taifa Leo as having said.

They also asserted that the opposition had got the government off guard with its deadly mass action protests due to the complacency in Haji’s docket.

The leaders now want Haji to be summoned by both the National Assembly and the Senate for a dress-down. Some wanted him removed from the office. Haji, a son of former Garissa senator and veteran politician the late Yussuf Haji, finished his tenure in the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) which he had occupied for five years after taking it in 2018 having succeeded Keriako Tobiko.
