The Minister of Sports Development in Nigeria, Senator John Owan Enoh, is currently in Egypt, accompanied by a representative from the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Their purpose in Egypt is to submit a bid for Nigeria to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
It’s worth noting that Nigeria has a history of hosting the tournament. They successfully hosted the competition in 1980 and emerged as the champions. However, their attempt to replicate this success as co-hosts with Ghana in 2000 did not yield the same result.
During the 2000 tournament, which was jointly hosted, Nigeria’s national team, the Super Eagles, reached the final but unfortunately lost to Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions in a match that took place at the National Stadium in Lagos. This historical context adds significance to Nigeria’s bid to host the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
John Owan Enoh confirmed his arrival in Egypt alongside NFF on his official page on X (formerly known as Twitter), according to the Punch.
