Nimrod Mbai, the current Member of Parliament for Kitui East Constituency, on Tuesday, July 4, found himself trending on social media platforms after allegedly beating up a Kenya Power (KPLC) employee.
The visibly irked Mbai accused the workers of invading his Kajiado farm and removing installed electrical polls without his permission.
In the disturbing incident, the Member of Parliament was captured strangling the worker by the neck and relentlessly delivering blows to his face.
The embattled KPLC employee, caught off guard by the incident, hang on closely while on the verge of falling to the ground as he pleaded for mercy.

Mbai then ordered the workers to direct their driver to speed to the altercation point and was further angered by their incessant defiance.
“President William Ruto ordered when you find electric power already installed; no one is allowed to remove the installed wires. All you need to do is install a metre,” Mbai, a member of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security, told the worker.
The Kitui East MP was accused of assaulting the Kenya Power officer at his Kitengela home, citing constant harassment by the power distributor over an illegal connection.
Mbai wondered why Kenya Power resorted to removing the polls, yet he had agreed to pay for the electricity bills on a monthly basis without fail.
He also accused the power distributor of disregarding a Presidential directive ordering Kenya Power against uninstalling existing power connections.
On Friday, January 27, President William Ruto ordered Kenya Power (KPL) to stop disconnecting homes deemed to have illegally tapped power.
Speaking at Shauri Moyo, Nairobi, during the groundbreaking ceremony for Affordable Housing Project, the President urged Kenya Power managers to focus on enhancing the last mile connectivity.
“We have a problem at Kenya Power. They decided to switch off many homes in Nairobi County. I would like to repeat that Kenya Power and Nairobi County government officials should agree on how to re-connect the homes that were disconnected,” Ruto ordered.
“How do you penalise a home that uses electricity, yet you haven’t asked them to pay for the power they are consuming?” the President asked.
