CS MAGOHA assures integrity in form one selection

Education Cabinet secretary , George Magoha assured all KCPE candidates integrity in the form one selection which will commence in two weeks time .

Speaking on Wednesday at a Surgical Society of Kenya conference in Mombasa , Magoha said that all the candidates who sat for KCPE will be placed in National , Extra county , county and subcounty schools .

Magoha also said that affirmative action will be used in considering geographical distribution countrywide such that all top students from across the country will be put together before they are placed in national schools .

“I’ll take the map of Kenya and say I want X numbers from Kwale so we will get the best from Kwale take to Alliance and the best from Kwale to go to Kenya High .This will be done across the country . We shall take students even from Wajir and Mandera , ” he stated.

Magoha also added that all the 1.2 million candidates who sat for the examination would be placed in the secondary schools that they chose.

“We will place you where you belong in terms of your selection . There will be no interference at all ,” he said.

He also promised to use merit where chances are limited .

“Where chances are limited , merit will be used ,” he added.

Cs Magoha urged private school owners to create Junior Secondary schools to ease the burden on the government. This is as the the country prepares to usher in grade 7 under new curriculum .

“Private owners of schools should not always look at the profit margin. They should create stand-alone junior secondary schools to reduce the pressure on us, ” Magoha said.

He also said that he is consulting on the resumption of secondary school games thanks to relaxation of Covid rules .

“I will consult the health minister and most likely , as we open for the new year , we could relax that aspect , ” he said .

KCSE exams are as well expected to end tomorrow.
